Storm Francis brought snow-covered landscapes to the Noguera and southern Alt Urgell regions starting at 5:30 AM on Monday, without causing major closures on main highways.

Snow began falling around half past five in the morning on January 5, transforming the landscapes into picturesque winter scenes. Although aesthetically pleasing, this snowfall did not create serious mobility issues on the main communication routes in the area.
Despite the smooth traffic flow on the busiest roads, driving on some secondary routes required extra caution. Authorities warned of accumulated snow and ice on the pavement, particularly in the higher altitude zones.
The municipalities of Oliana and Bassella, both located in Alt Urgell, recorded the highest accumulation, reaching about one centimeter of snow. As the morning progressed, precipitation gradually subsided in this region.
Below 400 meters of altitude, the snow did not stick to the asphalt. This was the case in Noguera towns such as Ponts, Artesa de Segre, and Balaguer, where the precipitation was limited to a light dusting without any significant road impact.
