A delegation from Jambakasala, the NGO based in Terrassa, traveled to Gambia this week to carry out the eighth mission focused on improving infrastructure and learning at the Janjanbureh school, inaugurated in 2020.

During their stay, the 16 delegation members will focus on actions aimed at strengthening student learning conditions and enhancing the educational center's infrastructure. This initiative is part of Jambakasala's commitment to the right to education and community development in the African town.

The goal is to guarantee the sustainability of the project and evaluate new possibilities for the school's expansion.

Since its opening in October 2020, the Jambakasala Janjanbureh Comunity Nursery School has become an educational benchmark, providing access to education for 90 students, with class sizes of 30 students each, and a teaching team of three teachers, plus a caretaker and a cook.
The school's construction was made possible through cooperation with the local youth organization Just Act, the donation of land by the Sidibeh family, and funding secured through contributions from hundreds of Terrassa citizens and a grant from the Terrassa City Council. In 2024, the Ministry of Education of Gambia took over the salaries of all center staff.
