The extraordinary draw of the 2025 Christmas Lottery (Loteria de Nadal) will take place next Sunday, December 22, at the Teatro Real de Madrid. The lottery drums will begin spinning at 9:00 AM, marking the moment when the children of San Ildefonso start announcing the winning numbers.
This year, the draw will distribute a total of 2.770 million euros, an increase of 70 million compared to the previous edition. The first prize, known as El Gordo, is valued at 4,000,000 € per series, or 400,000 € per tenth (décimo). The draw can be followed live starting at 9:00 AM via betevé, both on its website and on Movistar Channel 166, featuring a special program hosted by journalist Dani Clavera.
Winning tickets can be collected starting at 6:00 PM on the day of the draw and remain valid for three months, until March 22. Regarding taxation, prizes equal to or less than 40,000 euros are exempt from tax. If the amount exceeds this threshold, 20% of the prize must be paid to the Treasury (Hacienda).
Minor prizes, popularly known as the “pedrea” (hail of stones), award 100 euros per tenth. Historically, the luckiest ending digit for El Gordo has been the number 5, which has appeared 32 times in the history of the December 22 draw.
