Albert Danés, current mayor of les Preses, will be invested next Tuesday as the new president of the Garrotxa Regional Council, replacing the late Santi Reixach.

Albert Danés, representing Junts, will assume the highest responsibility of the regional body in an extraordinary plenary session to be held at the Regional Council headquarters. This decision follows the death of the previous president, Santi Reixach, who passed away on November 21 at the age of 69.

"With responsibility, respect and a sense of public service."

Danés's candidacy has been presented and supported by the groups forming the regional governing team: Junts, Esquerra Republicana, and Estimem les Planes. These parties have agreed to maintain the governing pact established at the beginning of the mandate in July 2023, thus ensuring institutional stability.
Danés, who previously served as delegated counselor for Youth and Sports, confirmed that he will continue to serve simultaneously as mayor of les Preses. His goal is to ensure the continuity of the project led by Reixach, who promoted, among other initiatives, the Alta Garrotxa Protection Plan, approved in 2021.
