The Associació Catalana de Municipis (ACM) has selected four pilot initiatives from the 'Arrelament al Territori' program to strengthen citizen ties with the environment and promote territorial balance.

The four winning proposals, chosen from 23 applications submitted in this fourth edition, will receive a total co-financing of 56,000 euros. The projects focus on resource management, sustainable mobility, cultural revitalization, and heritage recovery in mountain areas.

"Thanks to these recognitions, it is demonstrated that there are high-quality and valuable initiatives in all areas in small municipalities."

Jaume Oliveras · First Vice President of the ACM and Mayor of El Masnou
Among the highlighted initiatives is the creation of an Intermunicipal Biomass Logistics Center that will serve the municipalities of Alins, Esterri de Cardós, Llavorsí, and Vall de Cardós, in Pallars Sobirà. This project seeks to promote sustainable forest management and renewable energy production by rehabilitating a disused warehouse.

"It is a country commitment to use biomass to advance towards energy sovereignty and provide opportunities for mountain territories."

Joel Baró Mas · Mayor of Vall de Cardós
The other two awarded projects are the comprehensive mobility study for the municipal electric bus in Vall de Boí (Alta Ribagorça), which will define optimal routes and schedules for areas without public transport, and the Moixeró Lab, a cultural revitalization space in Saldes (Berguedà) that will combine contemporary art, bioeconomy, and traditional crafts.
Finally, the recovery of the heritage of the Alfolí de la Sal in Gerri de la Sal, in Baix Pallars (Pallars Sobirà), will be co-financed. The goal is to develop a master plan to convert the building into a regional cultural reference space. The awards ceremony was held in Josa i Tuixén (Alt Urgell), a municipality that received an award in the 2022 edition.
