A total of 16,240 non-university students in the Lleida region pursued their studies outside their municipality of residence during the 2024/2025 academic year, according to data released by the Statistical Institute of Catalonia (Idescat).

The study on mandatory mobility for educational reasons, published by Idescat, indicates that, across Catalonia, eight out of ten non-university students lived and studied in the same municipality during the 2024/2025 academic year.
Regarding the comarcas of Lleida, Segrià is positioned as the area with the highest retention rate for students attending Primary, Secondary, and Baccalaureate levels. The capital, Lleida city, stands out as the Catalan locality that retains the most resident students in relative terms, reaching 96.9%.
At the other end of the mobility spectrum is Pallars Sobirà, where the proportion of students studying in their home town is significantly lower. In this comarca, only 54.8% of non-university students remain in their municipality to attend classes.
