This situation has forced residents to travel to other towns to carry out basic procedures such as processing marriage files or obtaining birth and death certificates. This interruption coincides with the full entry into force of Law 20/2011 of July 21, which promotes the centralization and digitalization of the Civil Registry.
The closure became effective in October following the retirement of the local manager. Furthermore, recent regulations have limited the functions of judicial auxiliaries (former judicial agents) to the notification and processing of matters related to sentences and trials, excluding them from Civil Registry tasks, which are now exclusively reserved for managers.
For the time being, the only alternative for residents has been to redirect these procedures to the General Civil Registry Office of Igualada or to the offices in Montbui, Òdena, or La Pobla de Claramunt.
It should be noted that since April, the Justice Offices (former Justice of the Peace Courts) can no longer officiate weddings, a service that was reserved for the General Civil Registry Offices.
